1. "o2 World" as one of the largest handball arenas in the world
The third largest handball hall in the world is fitting to the name "o2 World" in Hamburg, which offers seats for up to 13,000 spectators at handball games. The hall is the venue of HSV Hamburg, which has played its games there since 2002. This year the multifunctional arena was opened for the first time, which is around 33 meters high, 110 meters wide and 150 meters long. The final of the handball world championship 2013 took place in this stadium, which was attended by 16,500 spectators, which is also the maximum capacity of the arena for handball games.

The largest handball hall in the world is currently the "Lanxess Arena" in Cologne, which you may still know under the name "Kölnarena", which the hall had for twelve years. It was not until 2008 that the sports arena was renamed to the name of the specialty chemicals company from Leverkusen. The hall can accommodate up to 19,250 people for handball games. The handball team of VfL Gummersbach has played its home games in the Lanxess Arena since 2001. March 2007 a new attendance record with 19,403 viewers was set.
