Tinkering a forest out of paper is no problem even with children. All types of paper scraps are suitable for this. You can also just take white copy paper and paint it with opaque colors.

Making a forest out of paper is also so much fun because you can quickly achieve a very decorative effect with very little effort.

Tinker trees for the forest

All types of paper are suitable for the trees. The quickest way to finish the forest is if you already have colored papers Handcraft to take. The advertising pages from magazines, for example, are astonishingly decorative.

  1. Roll a sheet of paper in multiple layers lengthways or crosswise.
  2. The tighter you roll the paper layers, the firmer and therefore more stable the trunk will be.
  3. Glue the outer edge of the sheet with adhesive tape or glue stick so that the paper roll can no longer come off.
  4. A small thank you - this is how you weave a heart out of paper

Would you like to give away a little thank you and don't know how? Braid ...

  5. Now make several parallel incisions lengthways on one side of the paper cylinder. The deeper you cut into the paper, the shorter the trunk will be.
  6. Now carefully slide the inside of the paper roll upwards from the side where you have not made any incisions.
  7. Now pluck the paper strips apart at the upper end and bend them slightly downwards. The first attempt usually creates something that looks like a palm tree and can be nicely arranged into a whole palm grove.

Tinker a whole forest

If you want to make a forest from different trees, you can create very different trees with amazingly simple variations.

  • Instead of a long, thin roll, make a short, thick roll - the result is a rather squat tree.
  • Cut the paper at the top into particularly long and narrow parallels - this gives the impression of a kind of weeping willow.
  • Particularly short cuts make the tree look like an exotic desert plant.
  • You can also cut the paper strips into shape, for example into oblong-oval leaf shapes.
  • Finally, make a few incisions at the bottom of the tree trunks and fold them outwards as standing surfaces that you glue to the surface.

This simple handicraft work is very suitable for groups of children. Each child can then brush their own individual tree and add it to the overall work.
