What you need:

  • daily newspaper
  • or magazine
  • respectively. red wrapping paper of the same size
  • some craft glue
  • some patience (especially with children)

Paper selection - this is what you should keep in mind when making origami

  • Children can always use hats, whether for dressing up, on Shrovetide or for the dolls.
  • If you want to fold this Little Red Riding Hood hat for a child, you should choose newspaper size as the paper. Half is enough for a doll.
  • In any case, the paper must be rectangular.
  • And if you choose red wrapping paper, it will also be the right color for a little red riding hood.

Little Red Riding Hood needs a hat - made of paper not difficult to fold

If your little handicraft specialist can only get as far as the helmet - not bad either! You can have a lot of fun with it too.

Folding ships with origami - two models

Are you looking for creative play and handicraft ideas for school children? Why don't you try ...

  1. First of all, you fold the rectangular paper into the so-called. Helmet, a basic shape that is not difficult to make. To do this, fold the book over the short middle section, i.e. fold the rectangle in the middle.
  2. Now fold the lower part of the book up in the middle, but open it again. This break is only used to mark the center.
  3. Now turn your work so that the opening of the book is facing down.
  4. As with the well-known ship, fold the upper right and upper left edge to the (marked) middle break. This creates two triangles - the top of the helmet.
  5. Now fold the lower (resting) edge up to the triangles and bend the two protruding small triangles backwards.
  6. Turn your origami work over and fold the edge up there in the same way.
  7. For the little red riding hood, lay your helmet in front of you so that you can see the two triangles. The tip of the helmet points upwards.
  8. Now fold the top of the helmet down a few inches. This triangle shouldn't reach the edge. If the border is very wide, slide the folded triangle underneath.
  9. Glue the triangle in place with craft glue.
  10. Now fold the two outer triangles of the helmet to the left and right of this triangle. Make sure that there is a straight break.
  11. Fold the triangles back so that only the break remains - this way the hat can be shaped better.
  12. Now you have to pull the hat wide at the lower edge and shape it into a small box with the help of the two folds that have just been folded. This step is actually harder than any other. Smaller children in particular need help with this.
  13. Now you need two ribbons, which are attached to the left and right - and Little Red Riding Hood can set off with cake and wine.

By the way: A hood for the grandmother is made from white paper after this one origami-Instructions. Perhaps you can add a frill made of crepe paper to the front edge.
