Build a turnout in Minecraft
You want to build a switch in Minecraft, but you don't know exactly how to do it the easiest? Basically, it's very easy, and here's how to do it.
Rails and rail shifting in Minecraft
- First of all, you should know that the pistons allow Minecraft players to build a switch for a cart. The pistons can move not only stone or earth blocks, but also rails, so that moving them leads to a recalculation of their curves.
- So if you put a piston next to a rail, the rail is very easy to move. Even two rails can be moved to a different position this way.
- So, through specific combinations, points can be built. You simply need to include 2 blocks of the rails and a free spot with 2 pistons. If you now activate one of them, it follows that the corresponding rails move. Make sure, however, that the incoming rail points to the middle of the 3 blocks, while the two outgoing rails should be on the outside. It is also worth knowing that switches must always be placed the wrong way round to the actual direction of travel.
- The signal can also continue to be used if you want to add a booster rail. If you now press one of the buttons placed, you switch one of the pistons and ultimately one of the switches while you activate the booster rail at the same time.
The simple T-switch
- If you are looking for an even easier way to build a turnout in Minecraft, the T-turnout is particularly suitable. As the name suggests, you ultimately form a kind of T out of rails.
- Then you have to feed the just built T to a switch or a redstone in order to be able to change the curvature in the middle piece later by exactly this.
- When driving over such a T switch, however, make sure to drive straight ahead if you hit the switch from one side without an actual rail connection.

So you see - building switches is in Minecraft a real breeze. So let off steam and go for what the rails hold!
