Before the construction of the paper tower starts

  • You probably already have the material for this project at home. Just search through the kitchen cupboards for cardboard packaging.
  • For example, tea bag packaging, empty tetra packs or empty kitchen paper rolls are particularly suitable. You and your child can also achieve interesting effects with cut up egg cartons.
  • If you don't have any packaging, you can make simple shapes out of cardboard.

How to build a paper tower

  1. First, find the largest box in your collection. This will become the "cornerstone" of your tower. If you want, you can do this on a thin base wood or attach thick cardboard.
  2. Now stack the boxes on top of the first one as you like. Your child certainly already has a clear idea of what the tower should look like. If not, trying out different options or indiscriminately tinkering with things is great fun.
  3. Build a puppet theater yourself - that's how it works

Do you want to build a puppet theater for your child? That doesn't require much ...

  4. Secure each box with sufficient glue. The individual products have different advantages. While the handling of paste is easier for the little ones - and a great experience by the way - of course, the adhesive tape does not have to dry and be fixed in the process.
  5. The tower will of course continue to be built until all of the material has been used up - the higher the better. If you notice that your child is losing interest, it is better to take a break from work or postpone the work to another day.

The design of the tower

  • Especially with older children, you can now dare to design the tower. Depending on the age and stamina of the child, the tower can first be "clad" with toilet or kitchen paper and paste. As with paper mache, you may even be able to shape small details out of the mass.
  • After the tower has dried well, it can be painted with well-covering acrylic paints.
  • Furthermore, all possible materials are of course suitable for the further design of the tower. Maybe some old fabric or paper scraps can be processed.

Have fun! Oh yes, if you particularly enjoy stacking up, you can build the next tower out of old moving boxes.
