• The type certificate number is on the type certificate, which was only issued in Austria for certain vehicles. From July 2007, every newly purchased car was delivered with an extract from the Austrian approval database instead of the type certificate.

• The type certificate consists of three parts: the type approval, the technical description (with the type certificate number) and the approval data. In the meantime, the type approval no longer exists for cars, motorcycles and tractors.

• If you have imported a vehicle from Austria to Germany, make sure that all three parts of the type certificate are present. If something is missing, there could be difficulties with the German authorities and the vehicle may not be registered.

The original vehicle registration document must always be carried with you, as this is required at police checks.
