However, green asparagus has one advantage over its white brother: You hardly have to peel it. With him, it is sufficient if you simply pull the shell off the lower, thicker part. While you absolutely have to peel white asparagus and can only dispose of or boil the peel, there is hardly any waste with the green stalks.

Variations in preparation

  • Instead of packing the sticks in portions in aluminum foil, you can also cook them in a roasting tube.
  • If you want, sprinkle a few fresh herbs over the asparagus as it cooks.
  • Cook thinly sliced ​​organic lemon or drizzle some lemon juice over the sticks.
