Attach the smoke pipe to the chimney
When the chimney is finally in place, the last step is to connect the flue pipe to the chimney. This step is actually not very complicated anymore when everything else is behind you.
Before the final inspection by the chimney sweep takes place, you should have had contact with him several times.
The chimney sweep must be consulted before connecting a flue pipe
If you're planning on getting a fireplace, there's no way you should just go with that building get started, but consult your chimney sweep thoroughly beforehand.
- This also applies if you know that there is a chimney at the exact location of the fireplace or stove that was previously used. Because the regulations may have changed in many ways since then.
- For example, the floor has to be examined. Combustible floors must be equipped with a special base plate.
- Then the chimney sweep must check whether the chimney to which you want to connect your fireplace has a sufficient diameter and is in a proper, usable condition.
- If the chimney and floor are examined before connecting the stove, you can also clarify all other questions right away - e.g. B. whether on the chimney or Additional open fireplaces could be connected to the train selected for the stove.
- Perhaps it should also be clarified whether the given heating system can be operated in parallel with the chimney on the same chimney. The chimney sweep also has to decide that before putting the chimney into operation. He is the specialist who can judge precisely whether the chimney can handle the amount of exhaust gas that arises.

This is how the pipe is connected properly
When everything has been clarified with the chimney sweep, connecting the flue pipe is no longer difficult.
- The stove is first moved as precisely as possible into the position in which it will later be.
- Usually the connection is on top of the stove; this should bring about better heat radiation from the smoke pipe and better draft. In addition, a chimney often looks more impressive when the flue pipe leads upwards than when it is led into the chimney sweep behind the chimney.
- You now place your smoke pipe on a trial basis, measure the required length of the smoke pipe and the position for the wall socket and draw the necessary markings on the wall. It is very important that you measure precisely and use the individual components correctly later. Any mistake here could result in leaks. The wall socket should z. B. marked in such a way that the diameter of the opening results directly. Often it has to be turned on its back so that it can be placed correctly on the wall.
- Then it is the turn of the wall breakthrough. You can do it yourself with a chisel or you can hire a specialist. He creates the breakthrough with a core hole with which he can drill a hole in the wall that exactly corresponds to the dimensions of the sleeve. With a core drilling there is also very little dirt and dust.
- When the connection is open, the wall socket is set into the wall with mortar. You must of course be careful here to use refractory mortar.
- It is also important that the socket connection ends exactly with the chimney limitation, it should not protrude into the chimney draft.
- When the mortar has hardened (after approx. one day), the smoke pipe can be plugged together. The stove can now be finally put into position, all parts are now put together. The chimney sweep will finally assess whether all regulations have been observed during installation.
