Change the tap on the sink
The reasons are quite different when it comes to changing your faucet at the sink. This can be a system change or a pure renewal due to wear and tear. However, since there are different types of water supply here, you should be informed about the techniques.

There are two types of faucets to consider when replacing. On the one hand, there is the so-called mixer tap, which is operated via a single lever function. On the other hand, there is the conventional faucet, which is equipped with a separate hot and cold water function. You should therefore check in advance what kind of faucet you have on the sink. A conventional faucet is equipped with two hoses and mixer taps with three hoses.
Changing the faucet is not very difficult
- Basically, you can take a look at the installation on the existing faucet. However, it is better to familiarize yourself with the function in connection with an assembly.
- Before starting your work, you must of course turn off the water supply on the main tap. Then open your faucet on the sink to release any pressure remaining in the hoses.
- Now you have to remove the installed hoses from the water supply. This is very easy to do with what are known as water pump pliers.
- Now you can unscrew the tap on your sink. Since the thread of your new faucet is usually a perfect fit for the application, inserting and attaching a new faucet is relatively easy. After you have screwed this on, it goes to the connection of the water supply.
- With conventional faucets, one hose is attached to the hot water and one to the cold water inlet.
- With a mixer tap that has to be connected to a water boiler, for example, the connection works a little differently. Here you need to mount a hose to the direct water supply. Then a hose is connected to the hot water supply of the boiler. The last hose is then also connected to the boiler. It is used to automatically fill the boiler with water via the tap.
