Train tickets are usually quite expensive - bought regularly. No wonder that car-sharing or the recently launched organization "deinbus.de" are major competitors of the railways. But many people just love (meditative) train travel and feel safer on the train than in the car, especially in winter when the roads are icy. If you take care of it in good time, you can even travel cheaper by train than most car-sharing options allow, namely with the 29-euro ticket from Deutsche Bahn.

The 29 euro ticket is valid for all of Germany.

  3. Note that with this 29 euro ticket you are traveling in second class. The first class costs 49 euros with a saver price.
  4. If you are traveling as a couple, the saver fare costs only 25 euros for each of you. Children under 15 travel for free. If you are in possession of a "BahnCard 25", you can benefit from a 25 percent reduction.
