Deutsche Bahn: forgot your monthly pass
Happens every now and then: You have a monthly pass from Deutsche Bahn or other public transport networks. But just when the conductor approaches, it becomes clear: you have simply forgotten your card (often with your wallet) at home in a hurry. So what to do

- This can happen to any of us: you have simply forgotten your monthly pass and your wallet at home. But according to the Bahn, forgetting is not a rule. A smart approach is required!
- First of all, you have to distinguish whether your monthly pass from Deutsche Bahn or another transport company is a personal card. This means that you have identified yourself as the owner of this card with your signature on the card (hopefully when you bought it). Then you can still use this monthly pass at the aforementioned 2 weeks after the conductors have been determined Show the post-price collection agency and come with a 15 Euro processing fee (also a penalty fee for forgetting called) of it.
- If you have an anonymous monthly pass that does not have a name, the situation is more complicated. In theory, you could have given this card to someone on the day in question, and they would then use your card. In this case, the railway assumes (unfortunately, but rightly) that you have passed on the card and are now driving "black". An increased transport fee (currently 40 euros, sometimes different in the transport associations) is due.
- But maybe you try goodwill. Either you come by in person, explain the situation and ask for an alternative solution. Take a confirmation from the school, your company or whatever else you need the ticket for with you to show that you really travel regularly with this ticket. Or you can appoint witnesses who can testify that you really are every day train travel. However, you should ask these people beforehand. That it is not possible to transfer the ticket in your case, because you really need it every day. If you are convincing, the train might turn a blind eye. However, you cannot insist on it.
- Alternatively, you can of course write a letter (preferably registered) and ask for an alternative solution.
