Photoscape is a free image editing program that you can download from the Internet. With Photoscape you can, among other things, single or multiple pictures edit at the same time, superimpose several pictures, create albums, merge several pictures into a collage, create GIF animations, photos Print, cut photos into pieces, take screenshots of all or part of your desktop, or just look at your pictures.

Install Photoscape and start it

  1. Photoscape can be downloaded free of charge from various providers on the Internet. After the download you can start the exe file with a double click. This opens the installation wizard.
  2. Follow the individual installation steps of the wizard. You can deselect additional functions as these are not required for the image processing program. If you would like to use it anyway, leave the checkmark set.
  3. After the installation you can leave the checkmark to start Photoscape immediately and click on "Finish". The installation wizard then closes and the image editing program opens automatically.
  4. If Photoscape isn't open, you can open it in Windows- Find the start menu under "All Programs" and "Photoscape" or as a shortcut on your desktop. The program is started with a double click.

How to superimpose images

  1. If Photoscape is open, you are on the start page. Here you can select which function of the image editing program you would like to use. To put several pictures on top of each other, click on the icon "image editing".
  2. First click on the "Menu" button at the bottom right in the menu area and select "New Photo". A small window opens in which you can first set the size of the drawing sheet and the color.
  3. If you have a special background that you would like to use, you can select the folder in which you have saved the image file in the directory tree on the left. After selecting the folder, all images found in the folder are automatically displayed in the lower part of the area.
  4. Select the appropriate background by clicking on it. It is then automatically displayed in the editing area. You can edit the image as you wish on the "Home" tab in the menu area. Here you can, among other things, set a frame for your background, change the size, set the brightness, the contrast and the sharpness.
  5. To superimpose several images, go to the "Object" tab in the lower menu area. There you can add another photo using the first icon with a mountain and sun background (photo).
  6. Windows Explorer opens. Here you choose the appropriate picture of yours hard disk and upload it using the "Open" button. The photo is then displayed in the editing area.
  7. In the next step you can set the transparency of the photo to the background. You can also specify the size of the image and the area in which it should be located. Click "OK" when you are finished with all the settings.
  8. You can also rotate or delete the picture via the submenu. As an alternative, you can also use the mouse resize or rotate the image. To do this, select the image in the editing area by clicking the left mouse button.
  9. Repeat the same procedure to superimpose multiple images. Select a new image, upload it to Photoscape and drag it to the appropriate place. With a click on the button "Image + Objects", all images are finally combined to form an overall image.
  10. To save the finished image, click on the "Save" button on the right in the lower menu area. This will open a new window. There you can specify the storage location and the file name.

Layering images is not that difficult with Photoscape. Just try it out yourself. Have lots of fun with it!
