How to dry autumn leaves
- Go out into nature and collect colorful leaves that you particularly like. The best thing to do is to choose a time when the sun has been shining for a while. Then the leaves are not totally wet or dirty. It is best to pack the leaves in a plastic bag to prevent your clothes or your car from getting wet and dirty.
- At home, it is best to spread out the autumn leaves on a table or window sill covered with a wax tablecloth and let them dry a little there. But only until the leaves no longer look wet. Depending on the room temperature, it is sufficient to let the leaves dry overnight.
- The next thing to do is to put the sheets of paper on some paper. Make sure that the sheets do not touch or overlap.
- After spreading one to three sheets of paper on a piece of paper, cover them with another piece of kitchen roll, greaseproof paper, or newspaper. Repeat the process two or three more times. The finished paper-sheets-paper stacks are then again stacked on top of one another.
- Now put the first book on the pile. You should make sure that the book is big enough to cover all of the sheets.
- You can stack additional sheets on top of this book as described in the above procedure. Keep putting a heavy book in between. Finally, put a few more books on the pile. Due to the weight of the books, the sheets are pressed nice and smooth as they dry. This is also the only way to dry leaves in autumn without them curling up and then crumbling with the slightest touch.
