Turn off cookies in Firefox
Cookies make surfing the Internet easier in many areas. However, some users do not want to carry files from websites with them and therefore wonder whether cookies can also be switched off. You can find out how this works with Firefox and what you have to consider here.
Turn off cookies and surf anonymously
- Open Firefox and select "Settings" from the menu.
- In the new window you will now see the respective options for Firefox, which you can adjust manually. Select the "Data protection" tab here so that cookies can be switched off under Firefox.
- Under the heading "timeline"you will see a selection menu which shows you three options. Select here "Create according to user-defined settings" to get access to the cookies.
- You can now remove the check mark under "Accept cookies" and turn it off in Firefox. This allows you to surf anonymously - which unfortunately also has some disadvantages, which will be explained in the next paragraph.
What does the removal of the reminders do in Firefox
- Online shopping: Few people are aware that switching off cookies has far-reaching consequences. Ordering in the Internet become problematic after deactivation, as the products are saved as cookies. To order online, you have to activate the cookies for the Firefox browser. As an alternative, however, you can still use the telephone and, in most cases, post and fax, if changing the settings becomes too complicated for you.
- Websites: Numerous other websites that do not have an online shop also work with cookies. So ask z. B. search engines the first time you use your preferred language and save this in a cookie. If this is now deleted, the query cannot be saved, which means that it is always set again and, in the worst case, can lead to malfunctions.
