How does USB recording work?
For USB recording you need a USB hard drive and a receiver that supports this function. Connect the hard drive to the corresponding connection on the receiver, the recording works via the corresponding menu.
More and more current receivers offer the possibility of USB recording. You can use a commercially available USBhard disk or connect a USB stick and record unencrypted broadcasts. You do not need an external device and the recording functions are very convenient.
Use USB recording on your receiver
- Not every receiver offers the possibility of USB recording. When buying, look for the appropriate option. It is not enough that a USB interface is available, it must also offer a recording option.
- Check the documentation to see which hard drives are compatible with your receiver and whether USB recording works with them. Not every hard drive fits every receiver. If a manufacturer is recommended, consider purchasing an appropriate hard drive. Then make sure that the combination fits and really works.

- Connect the hard drive and check in the menu of your receiver whether it is recognized. It should appear in the recording menu and you will also see how many minutes you can record.
- You can program a program manually directly in the recording menu. It is easier if you use the guide that is integrated in every modern receiver. This is a program guide in which you simply have to click on the relevant program to program it. The data is transferred directly to the recording menu.
- You can also watch programs that you record with USB recording with a time shift. Start the program at any time, even if it is still running.

Make sure that you only record programs that are not encrypted. You can only record HD programs from the public service programs without restrictions. For the other HD programs, a restriction is set individually for each program.
