If you have a Humax HD Fox receiver with PVR function, you usually have to set it up by connecting an external hard drive and formatting it. You can then record programs and watch them with a time delay.

If you have a receiver called Humax HD Fox PVR, this means that you can also use the device as a video recorder. PVR is short for staff Video Recorder and allows you to record TV shows on a hard disk.

How to operate the Humax HD Fox as a video recorder

  1. Connect an external hard drive with sufficient storage space to the receiver. Find out in advance in your operating instructions which hard drives are recommended by the manufacturer.
  2. Switch on the receiver and switch to the settings menu. Make sure the hard drive is recognized. In the settings you still need to format the hard drive. It will then only be recognized by the video recorder, not by one computer or from other devices.
  3. Use the EPG to program a program. Alternatively, you can make programming via the timer menu.
  4. Switch to the program manager on your hard drive to watch the program. This is also possible while recording, because the PVR is capable of time-shifted television.

Note the restrictions on PVR admission rights

  • Please note that you cannot fully record all programs on the hard drive. With the Humax HD Fox you can watch high definition programs from private TV channels or pay TV channels are the recording options of the broadcasters often restricted.
  • Sometimes you can only watch the program once or you only have 24 hours. Some programs cannot be recorded at all. This does not mean a restriction in the functionality of your PVR, but has to do with the rights management of the transmitter.
