Make your own wooden balcony folding table

What you need:

This construction is intended for attachment to the house wall or a concrete balcony element. Before doing this, you need to get the homeowner's approval.

1. For this balcony table cut 9 strips to a length of 750 mm. You need 2 x the length 515 mm as lower bars for screwing.
2. Paint all wooden strips according to your ideas with weatherproof paint or a corresponding clear varnish. You can apply the surface treatment with a paint roller and get an even surface without striking brushstrokes. Depending on the instructions for use, you decide how often you apply paint or varnish. On the surface of your folding balcony table top, one more layer may be the better protection.
3. Now prepare the area for your folding balcony table. With the top down, place 8 strips with a distance of 5 mm between them on a flat work surface at an exact right angle (e.g. B. Work table edge, stretched straightening strip, floor-wall corner, steel angle). Align the alignment of the ends of the pages with your angle.
4. As a cross connection, use the 2 lower strips of 515 mm with a distance to the respective outer edge of the table top of 100 mm to screw together. For the wood screws 3.5 x 35 mm for connecting the strips of the folding balcony table with the lower strips, pre-drill (max. 35 mm drilling depth for hardwood).

5. Attach the piano hinge to the rear long edge of the table surface with wood screws 3 x 16 mm. The hinge roller must be in contact with the lower edge of the wooden strip.
6. On the underside of the 9. Use wood screws 3.5 x 16 mm to screw the two steel brackets to the wall of the house / balcony for later fixing the table to the wooden strip. The vertical angle leg must be flush with the long edge of your wooden strip.
7. Before screwing this wooden strip to the balcony wall, mark all the places for the expansion dowels through the drill holes in the vertical angle legs. Here you have to work with the hammer drill when drilling. Now screw on each steel bracket with cross-head screws 5 x 40 mm. Pay attention to the horizontal alignment.
8. In the middle between the steel angles, screw the folding bracket to the balcony wall with the help of expansion dowels and Phillips screws 5 x 40 mm. The console must sit flush under the wooden strip as well as the table top. You can attach two consoles if necessary. However, with a load capacity of about 55 kg / piece, one is sufficient for this folding balcony table.
9. Now screw your prepared table surface with the piano hinge to the wooden strip on the wall. Use the 3 x 16 mm wood screws for this. The hinge roller sits on the lower edge of the wooden strip. The surfaces of the wooden strip and the screwed-on, unfolded table top form a level.
