From birth, we all have a name that our parents gave us, perhaps because it sounds nice or because it has a certain meaning. However, you choose spiritual names yourself, how does that work?
What is a spiritual name?
In some shamanism training centers or yoga courses, participants are given spiritual names as part of a solemn ceremony or a kind of consecration. This is usually done by the trainer or teacher. But you can also reject the name and choose one that you find more suitable for you.
In spiritual teachings it is assumed that the name is, so to speak, the gateway to the universe, i.e. to the great superior. The name has great power for one's own salvation, but also for bad luck and misfortune if it does not suit one's own nature.
Sanskrit names are often chosen and adopted.
Names and their meaning:
Yoga teachers like to use names of gods or their qualities, such as Mahadevi (great goddess), Ananda (bliss) or, referring to Krishna, Krishnaprem.
Many people initially ask themselves whether this could be cultural appropriation, because what motivates a European to get an Indian name?

But anyone who feels this shamanic path is right for them can call themselves such a name. It is said that each letter of the name has an influence on our life, success, happiness and path in life.

Either the name is given or chosen as part of training or it is given by a shamanic person.
To do this you need your date of birth, your personal element and you have to honestly answer a few questions about your personal strengths and weaknesses.
The name is intended to serve as a guide in life and bring clarity and inspiration. Above all, it works not only consciously, but on an unconscious level, which is intended to strengthen self-confidence and create a deep connection with one's self and the universe.
