Old lighthouse on Borkum

instagram viewer

The lighthouse on Borkum differs not only in its age, but also in its shape from other towers in the area. Since the square tower tapers towards the top, you can divide the cardboard replica into three levels. You should also make a base plate on which your tower can then be glued.

An old cardboard lighthouse is being built

So that an old lighthouse can be built, you should first look for a picture template of the original on Borkum. Either you use your own pictures, for example from your last vacation, or you look for a suitable template on the Internet. How big or small you then design the tower is up to you, you only need the picture template to be able to transfer the appearance onto your cardboard as true to the original as possible.

  1. After you have printed out your template, you will begin the first construction phase by gluing together a truncated pyramid from four cardboard pieces of the same size. After you have glued the side parts, measure the ceiling and foot part and cut the matching parts out of cardboard again, which are then glued to your truncated pyramid.
  2. You have now completed the first phase of construction of your tower. In order to complete the replica of the Borkum lighthouse, however, you have to make two more truncated pyramids, which become a little narrower towards the top.
  3. To highlight the age of the tower, you can then paint the side parts with a fine brush and paint. If you want to take the trouble, you can paint on the individual stones.

Recreate the Borkum building

  1. In order to clearly show the similarity to the lighthouse of Borkum once again, you can transfer the individual windows and doors of the original tower to the side walls of your three truncated pyramids. It is now up to you whether you cut out the windows and doors and then stick them with adhesive film, or whether you just leave them as drawings on your walls.
  2. Make a blueprint for a lighthouse out of cardboard

In model making, paper models are an affordable way to ...

  3. In the next step, put the three stumps on top of each other and glue them together. When gluing, make sure that the distances to the respective outer sides of the basement are the same on each side. Finally, the lighthouse replica is then glued to your base plate and you have already completed the project of the old tower of Borkum.

Don't use too much of your paper glue on each splice.
