Everyone who likes to read in the bathtub - and who doesn't? - knows the problem that the book pages become damp and wavy despite the greatest caution or, in the worst case, reading falls completely into the water in the truest sense of the word. Fortunately, there are a few simple tips that you can take to heart while browsing in the tub, so that your favorite books stay dry in the future.

The right preparation for browsing in the bathtub

Reading a book in the bathtub in such a way that it does not actually get wet is quite an art. The difficulties that are connected with this have ruined the reading fun for some water rats. For most problems, however, there are more or less elegant solutions.

  • First of all, it is crucial not to simply let the tub fill up with hot bath water and jumping into it carelessly with the book in your hands, but doing the whole thing right prepare. To do this, the first thing to do is to put a chair near the bathtub and place a towel and the book you want to read on it.
  • If you let the water run in, you should still make sure that it is not quite as hot as usual, but rather lukewarm. Otherwise, without the literary work coming into contact with the hot water, the book pages would already become damp from the rising steam.
  • Since water vapor will likely collect in the air over time, keep the bathroom window tilted whenever possible. Of course, this only applies if the outside temperatures really allow it.

How to protect your books from moisture

  • It is advisable not to let the bathtub fill up completely from the start. So you can later, when the water gets a little cool after the first chapter, still warm bath water.

  • If the bathtub is still about half empty, you can also put your feet up so that your knees look out of the water and you can comfortably rest the book on it to read.
  • When you get into the bathtub, just leave the book on the chair next to the bathtub and first of all make yourself really comfortable. A bath pillow for the head can be very beneficial.
  • When you have finished setting up, first grab the towel from the chair and thoroughly dry your hands and, if necessary, your knees. You can then exchange the towel for the book and start browsing with dry hands.

If you follow these tips, your book should at least stay largely dry. But since mistakes happen every now and then, you shouldn't be one hundred percent open abandoning the method and looking for expensive books after bathing in bed pull into.
