Make yellow boards yourself

You can buy yellow boards for little money, but mostly in such large quantities that you cannot use for a winter garden or balcony. Just make the yellow boards yourself.

  1. Get some bright yellow construction paper and place it in a laminate. If you laminate the paper, the yellow panels are less sensitive.
  2. Cut strips of 2 x 5 cm or squares of 5 x 5 cm from it. Punch the strips two times at a distance of one centimeter approximately in the middle and the squares at each corner.
  3. Push a kebab skewer per strip through the two holes of the strips. The skewer should protrude equally far from the strip at the top and bottom. These will be the yellow stickers for the potting soil. Pull string through the holes in the squares, these will be the yellow panels.
  4. Now boil the water with the sugar. Let it boil down a little, the consistency should be something like honey.
  5. Mole crickets - lifestyle, damage and control

  6. Brush the yellow plates and stickers with it and let the syrup drain off a little. Keep the leftovers in the refrigerator.
  7. Distribute the self-made yellow plates between the plants. If these lose their adhesive strength, rub sugar syrup over them again.
  8. Alternatively, you can also cover the boards with double-sided adhesive tape in places to lay carpeting. But here you have to find the right mix between the adhesive surface and the yellow component.

Owners of pets, especially of Cats, should be careful with the yellow boards. Although these are not poisonous, they do irritate cats to play with. An Angora cat stuck with yellow boards is difficult to clean, so be careful where you put the yellow boards and stickers.
