Herbal cure for the garden
Nettle manure is not only a good organic fertilizer, but also a suitable means of pest control in the garden. But the best thing about it is that you can make the herbal cure yourself with relatively simple means.
What you need:
- A large wooden or plastic barrel
- Nettles
- Rain or well water

The preparation of the nettle manure
Nettle manure is particularly suitable for the beginning of the gardening season, when it is not yet ripe compost is available for fertilization. But it can also be used later as an additional herbal cure at regular intervals. You can proceed as follows to produce it.
- Dig a hole in your yard so deep that you can almost completely submerge the barrel in it. When using a barrel made of wood, you should impregnate it beforehand (e. B. with linseed oil).
- Once the barrel is buried, you can start cutting the nettles. Use fully grown fresh plants and harvest enough of them to fill the barrel almost completely.
- Then pour the nettles with water until the barrel is full. Since tap water often contains chlorine, which is harmful to plants, it is advisable to use rain or well water.
- After the liquid manure has been set up, it must be left to mature for at least two, or even better, three weeks. During this time, stir them from time to time to stimulate the ripening process.

This is how the herbal cure is used in the garden
- Nettle manure is never used pure in the garden, but always very diluted. You can add about half a liter of the fertilizer you have made yourself to a 10 liter watering can.
- It is advisable to filter the liquid manure through a coarse cloth when pouring it into the watering can. In this way, no plant residues get into the jug, which could otherwise clog it.
- Note that the nettle manure develops a strong odor (not to say stench) just a few days after it has been set. To mitigate this a little and to additionally enrich the herbal cure with minerals, you can add some primary rock flour to the nettles.
The pouring of Garden plants with diluted nettle manure provides them with additional nutrients and makes them more resistant to pests. Some pests are deterred by the intense smell of the manure.
