Back up data before reinstalling

  1. Switch to the Finder or Explorer and open the user folder there. Depending on operating system and settings specified during installation you will find under "music"or a similar directory, discover the iTunes folder.
  2. Open it and navigate to "iTunes Media ". This is the place where the Apple-Application not only backs up songs, but also apps, films, ringtones and TV series.
  3. Copy the folder with the data you want to keep on the desktop or on a USB stick for security. Make sure that films can quickly take up several gigabytes. After these preparations, the reinstallation can begin.
