Protect your photos - create watermarks with Photoshop

  1. Open the Adobe Photoshop program. In Photoshop, open the image that should be watermarked. To do this, click on "File" in the menu bar and then on "Open file". A small window opens in which you can select the image file and then click the "Open" button to see the image in Photoshop.
  2. Now click on the button for text (capital "T") in the toolbar. Alternatively, you can just press the button with the letter T on your keyboard Press to switch to text mode.
  3. Now hold down the left mouse button and drag a text field to the place where the water mark should be. As soon as you release the mouse button, a text field appears in which you can type your text later. You can enlarge or reduce the text field at all corners by pressing the mouse Navigate to the respective corner and as soon as the mouse pointer changes to a diagonal arrow, hold down the mouse button and drag the text field larger or smaller as desired.
  4. In the upper area, select the desired font, the font style (bold = bold, italic = italic, regular = normal) and the font size. Set the font color you want. To do this, click on the front of the two superimposed small squares below the toolbar to set the foreground color. A small window opens in which you can easily set your desired color using various controls. Confirm your choice by clicking on "Ok" and the small square will appear in the selected color.
  5. Now you can type your desired text for the watermark into the text field. For example "Photo of Max Mustermann". If you would like to change the size, font or font style later, you can simply mark the text again with the mouse button pressed and change it as described above.
  6. Photoshop - generate smoke

With the help of Photoshop you can easily add smoke to an image afterwards ...

  7. When your text is ready, you can add a transparency effect to put the watermark in the background. On the right side you can see an overview of the "layers" in Photoshop. You should now see a layer for your picture (background) and a layer with your text (symbol with a capital "T"). Now click with the right mouse button on the text layer and in the menu that opens, click on "Fill Options". Now a window opens in which you can set the opacity using a slide control in the upper area. Set the opacity here, for example, to 10% and confirm with a click on "Ok".
  8. Finally, save your finished picture. Click on "File" -> "Save file as ...". A window opens again in which you can select the storage location and file name as well as the format (it is recommended to select the JPEG format here). A click on "Save" opens another small window in which you have to define the quality. Set the quality to maximum here and confirm with a click on "Ok".

If you are in Photoshop one of the buttons mentioned does not appear, you can simply show it again. For example, you can show the layers again by clicking on "Window" in the upper area and then clicking on "Layers".
