Nature gives you many materials that you can use to make a festive Christmas decoration. This craft idea uses pine cones that you can find anywhere outside in the fall and winter time. This DIY decoration is also suitable for that Handcraft with children. However, because of the dangers of working with the hot glue gun, your children should never be left unattended.

Tinker Christmas decorations - this is how it works with pine cones

  1. The first thing to do, of course, is to collect as many pine cones as you want to use. You can combine this with a walk with the family, or you can send your children off. The cones should be left at room temperature for about one night.
  2. To make a Christmas decoration yourself from the pine cones, start with the application of paint. Bring white paint to the cones. You can either paint it opaque so that the pine cones are completely white, or you can just put a thin layer of paint on it so that the cones still shimmer through underneath.
  3. This paint application must now dry for at least 5 hours.
  4. Get a craft glue with glitter particles from the craft store. Use this glue to paint the white cones after they have dried. Now it is time to be patient again. The finished painted cones now have to dry overnight.

Decorative cones - this is how it continues after drying

  1. The next day, have the hot glue gun ready.
  2. While the device is heating up, cut the ribbon to the desired length. Tie a knot at the beginning and end of the ribbon.
  3. When the glue is nice and hot, put a drop of it on the pine cones and attach the ribbon to it.
  4. Hold the tape in place until the glue dries on. Now do this with all the pine cones that you have prepared.

Now you can hang the tenons anywhere and use them to decorate your home. They look particularly nice as a "curtain" on the curtain rod. For this purpose, many pine cones are tied to the curtain rod at short intervals. But these homemade Christmas cones also look great individually on the window and wall.
