Lasagne sheets - pre-cooking is usually unnecessary

Many chefs do not agree on whether you should pre-cook lasagne sheets. There are several ways to achieve this.

  • Usually you don't have to cook lasagne sheets. These will be between layers one meat-, vegetables- or another sauce cooked in the oven using the liquid. You should make sure that there is enough liquid in the lasagna so that the lasagna plates can really cook through.
  • If you want to use less sauce and if you want it to go a little faster, you can of course pre-cook lasagne sheets before use. It is even sufficient if the leaves are only half cooked in advance (about three to five minutes). Please note that the cooking time of the lasagna is then slightly reduced.
  • A third variant is "soaking" the lasagne sheets. To do this, prepare the lasagna the day before and leave it overnight or for a few hours in the refrigerator pull through well. Here, too, the cooking time is reduced accordingly. Alternatively, you can briefly cool the plates in the cold before using them water soaking.
