Set up absent status on Facebook in the chat

There are two ways of doing this Facebook set up an absent status in the chat. Either turn off the chat function, or you can make yourself invisible, optionally also for individuals friends or groups of friends.

Absent status by switching off the chat

If you're online on Facebook, you can use the Chat- Switch off the function and are thus displayed for your friends with the absent status. However, in this case you will no longer be able to see which of your friends is online.

1. To go offline in the chat, click on the small wheel in the upper right corner of the chat box.
2. A small box will appear with several options. In the first line you will find the option "Available to Chat" with a checkmark. Click the check mark and remove it that way.
3. Your chat is now shown to you as offline and your friends can no longer see that you are online on Facebook. However, as soon as you click the chat box again, the chat function will be reactivated and you will be visible again.

This is how you stay invisible on Facebook

There is an alternative if you want to keep seeing who of your friends is online and if you don't want to disable chat entirely. You can be invisible to certain friends. If you set this up for all of your friends, everyone will see you as out of the office.

1. To do this, click on the little wheel symbol in the upper right corner of the chat box. Select the third option: "Make me unavailable to".
2. Click on the friends list for whom you want to set the Away status and close the window.
3. If you want to be out of the office for all friends, set up a friends list with all of your contacts and select them. So you stay in the chat, but do not appear with your friends with the green dot.
