Synthetic hair extensions with curls

Extensions are a way to get longer hair quickly. There are several methods by which the strands can be attached to your own hair. Not all procedures are recommended for synthetic hair with curls.

Basics about synthetic hair

Before you go for synthetic hair, study the pros and cons of the material.

  • The artificial ones hair are cheaper than real hair, the price of high-quality synthetic hair is around 10 to 15 € per 100 g. For real hair you would have to use approx. Calculate 40 €. Even cheaper extensions are made of unsuitable fibers and look artificial. Good fibers are, for example, Kanekalon or Thermofiber.
  • The synthetic hair has a memory effect. Switching from curls to straight hair is therefore not possible. The hair is available in straight, wavy or curly versions. So you need to decide on the shape before buying. A subsequent makeover will damage the hair and will not last. For this, the hair will automatically assume its original shape after washing.
  • One disadvantage of artificial hair is its relatively short shelf life. You need to look after it very carefully so that it doesn't lose its shine or become brittle. It cannot be colored either.

Fastening extensions with curls

In general, there are different ways in which extensions can be attached. There are only two methods that make sense for curly synthetic hair.

  • The method of sticking strand by strand with human hair is not recommended. This connection can be made in a number of ways, but none of them are optimal when using synthetic hair with curls. The transition between your own hair and the curly synthetic hair rarely looks natural. You also have to take the later fall of the curls into account when attaching them. The same applies to procedures in which the strands are braided into your own hair.
  • Another method is to clip individual curly strands into your hair. These strands are slightly wider than with the gluing process. The method is tedious, but the result looks good. You can also remove the strands at any time or reposition them in your hair. With this procedure, the strands have to be removed from the hair in the evening and reinserted in the morning. You can't take it when you sleep on it. Long tressbands with many strands of hair that are clipped into the hair are therefore more practical than small strands.
  • Fixing with tape is a good compromise between permanently glued strands and clipping. Here, too, the hair is sewn onto braids. The tapes are provided with an adhesive layer on the edge. With this layer, they are glued from above and below onto a strand of the same width of your own hair. The two adhesive layers thus enclose a wide strand of your own hair. The extensions last a few weeks and can be removed from the hair with a special remover. After cleaning and applying new tape, you can stick the extension on again.

If you want curls with synthetic hair extensions, long braid bands with clips or tape are the most sensible solution.
