Facebook: activate the news ticker like this
The news ticker function on Facebook, which you normally see at the top of your right sidebar, is always switched on, so you don't have to activate it first. However, there can be two reasons why your news ticker is not displayed. You can find out what these are and how to fix them here.
Activate JavaScript in the web browser
If you have the news ticker Facebook is not displayed, this may be because you have deactivated JavaScript support in your web browser.
- Since the entire right sidebar, in which your news ticker is located, is based on JavaScript, you have to allow JavaScript at least on Facebook. Depending on which web browser you are using, you will need to do this in different ways.
- If you are Google If you use Chrome, you have to open your settings and click on the "Content settings" button under "Privacy". Then either activate JavaScript ("Allow execution") or add Facebook as an allowed website using the "Exceptions" button.
- With Mozilla Firefox you have to tick "Activate JavaScript" in your settings under "Content", with Safari under "Security" or with Opera under "Advanced" and "Contents".
- If you have the Internet If you are using Explorer, you have to click in the menu item "Extras" on the item "Internet options" and then in the tab "Security" set either "Standard" or "Active Scripting" for "Scripting" under "Customize level" activate.

Extension blocks Facebook news tickers
On the other hand, the error can arise because you have installed an extension for your web browser with which you can either hide the sidebar specifically or among other things. To display the news ticker again, you have to proceed differently after the extension has been installed.
- If you use the "FB Purity" extension, this is only possible under Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera is possible, you have to go to Facebook and then click on the link "FB Purity" in the upper area of Facebook click. Then a small window opens in which you have to remove the tick in front of "Ticker" and then click on "Refresh".
- If you have activated the "Hide Facebook Sidebar Ticker" extension under Google Chrome, you have to remove it completely. Click on the wrench that you will find in the top right corner and select "Extensions" under "Tools". You can also use the link "chrome: // chrome / extensions" in your address line. Finally, click the trash can icon to the right of the add-on to uninstall the extension.
- If you are using Mozilla Firefox and the "Remove Facebook Sidebar Ticker" extension, you must also uninstall them. To do this, press Ctrl + Shift + A (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + A, click on "Remove" for the add-on and restart Firefox.
