Browser test - the implementation

If you don't know if you already have the Java Runtime Environment installed on your computer, and you don't first want to take a laborious look in your system settings, you can do this quickly and easily directly via your browser testing.

  • All you have to do is open one of your installed web browsers and use the Test area from Java call. If the Java Runtime Environment is already available on your PC, an application will run successfully and you will find out which version you are using, among other things. If the Java Runtime Environment should not be installed, a partially different view would appear depending on which browser you are using. at Google Chrome, you'd see a gray area and prompted to install a plug-in at the top. With the rest of the browsers like that Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Opera will display the text "None ..." on your system and you will see the gray area below that.
  • Alternatively, you can also find on the Java homepage Below the button "Free Java download" the link "Do I already have Java?". If you click on this and then on the "Check Java Version" button, a page similar to the test area mentioned will be opened. Regardless of your browser, you would either see the version of the Java Runtime Environment or just get the text that the software could not be found on your computer.

Install Java afterwards

If the browser test turned out negative and you would like to install the Java Runtime Environment on your PC, you can do this with just a few clicks:

  1. To do this, click on the "Downloads" link in the top menu of one of your browsers.
  2. Java installation failed - what to do?

Java offers every user of a computer or other digital device the ...

  3. Then use the red button "I agree and start with a free download" and confirm the download in your browser if necessary.
  4. Then start the downloaded EXE file, which is different depending on the browser, for example "chromeinstall", "JavaSetup" or "jxpiinstall".
  5. Continue with "Install" and wait a while for the required installation files to download. The installation is then carried out automatically, so that you only have to click on "Close".

In the future, the program will update itself automatically so that you no longer have to use the browser test to check whether your version is up-to-date.
