Paint the body of a manga character
The stature of one Manga-Figure can be very different from that of a real person. Nevertheless, one should adopt certain body dimensions, not only to enable uniform painting, but also for aesthetic reasons.
- Start by tracing the outline of the manga character's head with a pencil. The head is also the unit of measurement. Therefore, you need to note the length of the head with the help of a ruler. This is now your unit of measurement 1, which will help you paint the manga characters.
- Draw the upper body of adult Manga figures as a triangle twice the length, twice the length of the unit of measurement 1. Be sure to paint the shoulders of a female figure narrower. In the case of a child, the upper body corresponds to the length of the head, i.e. the unit of measurement 1. Note that the shoulders are much narrower than those of an adult figure.

Paint the head of a manga character
Probably the most important part of a manga character is the head and face. All emotions are shown through the face. The face and the head usually determine the appearance of the figure to a large extent and have the highest recognition value.
- Lightly sketch the outline of the manga character's head. Paint an oval head shape that tapers down towards the chin. Then paint a cross inside the head. The cross extends from one ear to the other and from the forehead to the chin. With the bend of the vertical line, you specify the direction of view of the figure either to the left or to the right. With the horizontal you specify the direction of view upwards or downwards. The figure's nose should be where the two lines meet.
- Draw a fourth auxiliary line parallel to the horizontal line. This will help you paint the manga character's eyes the same size. If you have specified a look to the left using the auxiliary lines of the figure, i.e. the figure in the If you want to draw a half profile, you have to make a curve on the left side of your face at the level of the eyes paint inside. - Paint the nose on the center line. You can use a nostril to make the rotated head posture clear. The tip of the nose is slightly below the intersection of the auxiliary lines. The mouth should also be narrower on the opposite side of the head, and the ear should also be less visible on the opposite side of the manga figure.
