When colors are mixed - basics of color theory
- To answer the question of what mixed yellow and green make, you first need some basic knowledge of color theory. The most important tool here is the color wheel. This is the splitting of the spectral colors - all of which are found in white light. So if you mix the basic colors of the color wheel as light, you get white light because the proportions have been reunited. - From what has been said above, it follows that mixed yellow and blue result in green. Now if you mix green and yellow you will get one volume, which can best be described as yellow-green: It's a shade of green that has moved closer to yellow on the color wheel.
- The same goes for the mix of blue and purple. Since the violet already consists of red and blue, you increase the proportion of blue by mixing and you get a blue-violet.
- Again: This only works if you have mixed your nuances yourself from pure primary colors. Mixing Indian Yellow with Phthalo Green or Mauve with Indigo will give you completely different results.
