What you need:

  • 1.5 m of fabric
  • 13 buttons
  • sewing machine
  • yarn

What makes the Paul Panzer shirt so special?

Paul Panzer mainly wears two shirts. One has blue flowers, the other orange. These flowers are not just any flowers, they look like the ones Grandma had on her towels.

  • If you are looking for the fabric for the shirt, you can do it on the Internet, for example at Dawanda. There is a large selection of fabrics with a Pril flower pattern there. Or you can go to a well-stocked fabric shop and ask for fabrics with a Pril flower print.
  • Then you still need buttons. The original shirt has very inconspicuous see-through white buttons that are very small.
  • When you have the fabric, you still need a sewing pattern for the shirt. The Paul Panzer shirt is all about the shrill pattern. Therefore, the pattern is no longer that important. Choose one that you like and in which you feel comfortable. But if you want it to be completely authentic, look for patterns from the 1970s. The shirt should be cut wide around the arms and torso, and tight around the neck and cuff. The button placket should be very narrow and the bottom hem should be semicircular.

Sewing dirndl dresses for children yourself - tips and ideas for classic dresses

You can sew dirndl dresses surprisingly easily yourself. The cuts are at ...

  1. Take the pattern on hand and cut it out according to your size.
  2. Now take the fabric and find a table where you have plenty of space. Spread the fabric here. Pin the pattern on the wrong side of the fabric with pins. Now you can cut out the individual parts.
  3. When you have all cut out your individual pieces, put them together in the way that they will need to be sewn on later. Now you can first look at the pieces that need to be sewn in before you start joining the large pieces.
  4. So first finish the cuffs and collar, then sew the sleeves together and only then connect the front and back.
  5. Then it goes to the button bar. Take the part for the button placket and place it right sides together. Then place that on the left front of the shirt. Now it is quilted. Now turn the whole thing over so that a bar is created that should be 3 cm wide, and stitch it tightly again. For the right front piece, the fabric is turned over 3 cm and sewn together. The buttonholes themselves must be machine made. If you have a newer machine, it has a button sewing program. For this you will likely need the foot M, which attaches to the needle holder.
  6. When you then cuff the sleeves, pay attention to the folds. Due to the wide sleeves, the fabric has to be gathered a little over each other at the waistband.
  7. When you have connected everything, all you have to do is hem the lower edge and your chic and shrill Paul Panzer shirt is ready.
