The forms "enjoy" and "enjoyed"

The two forms of "enjoys" and "enjoyed" are first of all the same strongly conjugated verb. In acoustic usage, however, these two forms sound similar and are sometimes confused with other words.

  • The origin of the problem is first of all the verb "enjoy". This is the activity of enjoying an object or fact. The basic structure of the sentence can be expressed as "someone enjoys something".
  • As already mentioned, the verb is strongly conjugated. That is, it is going through a change in the past tense. When a person enjoys something, it is first of all the present or the future. This is clear, for example, with "someone is enjoying something" or "someone is going to enjoy something". In the past tense, however, the stem vowel changes to an O, which creates "enjoyed". Expressed as an example, this means that "someone enjoyed something" or "someone enjoyed something". The ß is thus replaced by an ss.

The right formulation for sneezing

Now there is a difference between the strong verb "enjoy" and the verb "sneeze", which refers to the process that is usually triggered by a tingling sensation in the nose. First of all, there is a fundamental difference in the word itself, since there is no longer a ß when "sneezing".

  • Furthermore, the verb "sneeze" is not bent too much, but rather weakly. That is, it will keep its shape even in the past.

  • Accordingly, the sentence "I sneeze" or "I sneezed" could be formed as an example. The problem that shows up with "sneezing", "enjoying" or "enjoying" is a classic mistake of reasoning, which also with other words, for example with the right "waved" and the wrong "waved" occurs.
