Strips of concrete support the beams of the wooden terrace

  1. To do this, in the next step you make the ground level, up to the height that the upper edge of the foundation of the wooden terrace should later have.
  2. Then mark the individual strips for the foundation with pieces of wood and string. As many foundation strips must be laid as wooden beams are required. Each strip should be about 30 inches wide.
  3. Now the trenches of the foundation strips for the wooden terrace are dug to a depth that reaches below the frost line. That is about 80 centimeters.
  4. You take away the excavated earth. The trenches of the strips are now filled with precast concrete up to the top of the earth. You have to make sure that you always compact the precast concrete well in between. Finally, peel off the precast concrete cleanly and evenly. All strips must have the same height at the end.
  5. When the concrete is completely dry, dig the strips between the foundations of the wooden deck about eight inches deep. This is to ensure that the foundation strips protrude and thus ensure good ventilation for the terrace wood.
  6. In the next step, the well-impregnated beams are attached to the foundation of the wooden terrace, not without first providing the strips with an insulating layer.
  7. Finally, the terrace boards are attached to the beams and the wooden terrace is ready.
