Do you want to get a new bed? If you usually sleep alone, but sometimes also as a couple, the dimensions 140x200 cm are ideal. You don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money on this. With a little craftsmanship and building instructions, you can do it all on your own.

What you need:

When you have sawn the boards for your bed with the dimensions 140x200 cm to the right length - or cut them straight into have had a carpenter's shop or hardware store sawed to size - you still need to assemble the boards according to the instructions treat.

So treat the boards for the bed

  1. First of all, sand all boards with a grain size - at least the visible surfaces - with a sandpaper grain 120 and then with a grain size 240.
  2. Then moisten the sanded surfaces and let everything dry.
  3. Now the wood fibers have positioned themselves. If you now regrind with the 240 grit, you will get a nice and smooth surface.
  4. Now you can screw and glue the two wooden slats (200 x 5 x 3 cm) onto the inside of the 2 boards (202 x 30 x 2 cm). The slatted frame will later rest on these bars. So you have to move the slats down so that the slatted frame and mattress will later be at the right height according to your requirements. The mattress should later be approx. Stand 5 - 10 cm above the edge of the bed.

  5. Once the glue has dried, apply linseed oil to all parts at least once, better twice, for perfect wood protection.

The instructions for assembling the 140x200 cm bed

When the linseed oil has dried, you can use the Assembly kick off.

  1. First connect the 30 cm wide boards with the mounting brackets so that you get a box with the inside dimensions 142 x 202 cm. You screw the brackets to the later top edge of the bed box.
  2. Now turn the box over so that the top is on the floor.
  3. Now place the bars (8 x 8 cm) over the slats for the slatted frame and secure with a screw clamp.
  4. Now you can use the 10mm drill to drill the holes for the screw bolts.
  5. Then screw the feet to the box and turn it over again.
  6. At the head end you can then attach a backrest at your desired height with the beams (7 x 4 cm) and the board (140 x 30 x 3 cm).
  7. In the middle (from 140 cm) of the bed you now have to insert an additional support for the slatted frame. Screw the smaller lath to the lath (202 x 5 x 3 cm) so that it becomes an elongated T-piece. You screw this lengthways into the box with the mounting brackets.
  8. Finally, screw the 2 cm thick slats into the box as a slatted frame, or you can install a purchased one.
