  • A poodle is a miscarriage. This ends up in one of the two collecting channels on the railway. When explaining how this term came about, two different statements are circulating.
  • The first explanation is that such a litter is compared to a shorn poodle. If this shearing is not done properly, it will look like a recreated lion; the shearing failed.
  • The other version refers to the fact that the railways were outside of restaurants in earlier times. As a result, the collecting channels filled with water when it rained and puddles were created. In some regions, poodle is another word for puddle. In bowling, the poodle is also called Schmitz in many places.

It is due to this fact that a sideways trajectory has to be drawn when throwing. In this situation it is not uncommon for the ball to leave the track beforehand. It ends up in one of the collecting channels and you have produced a poodle.
