Do you need a funny idea for the next men's outing or for Father's Day? If so, then give it a try with a moving beer crate, which retains its function and drives your beer through the area like a wagon. Creating a blueprint for it is pretty simple.

What you need:

  • Beer crate
  • two threaded rods
  • 4 wheels for wheelbarrows
  • 12 nuts, suitable for the threaded rod
  • a rope about 2 meters long
  • tool
  • Cordless drill

Buy the material for the moving beer crate

  • The material for the moving beer crate according to the blueprint can be bought in every hardware store. You need two threaded rods about 50 cm long, the matching nuts (12 pieces), 4 wheels for wheelbarrows and a rope with which you can pull the box behind.
  • In addition, you will of course also need the crate of beer, which you can get in every supermarket. Crates with 24 x 0.33 and 20 x 0.5 (also swing-top bottles) are suitable. Smaller boxes such as a box of 11 or half a box, on the other hand, are not stable enough.

Assemble the box according to the blueprint

When you have the material, make a sketch or a small blueprint. Draw in where the drilling will take place later and in which order the moving beer crate will be assembled.

  1. It is best to drill a hole on the longer sides at the very bottom of the empty beer crate through which you can push the threaded rod. A wood drill is suitable as a drill attachment for plastic.
  2. Now screw the first 4 nuts onto the threaded rod and use them to fix them to the beer crate. However, you need to tighten the nuts properly.

  3. Now you can screw on the next 4 nuts and tighten them as well. These then act as spacers.
  4. Now attach the four wheels and test whether they can roll freely. If this is the case, then put the last 4 nuts on the threaded rod to hold the wheels in place.
  5. You may have to shorten the threaded rod a little. An angle grinder, also known as a flex, is suitable for this.
  6. Finally, tie the rope to the beer crate so that you can pull it behind you and put the bottles back in.
