Original Greek recipes

  1. As with all recipes, you first buy the ingredients you need. After that, the meat for your gyros will be under clear water washed off and patted dry with kitchen paper. Then place it on a cutting board and cut it into strips about 5 cm long with a sharp knife.

Gyros as a salad

  3. The Greek gyros meat is now prepared as described above. Set it aside to cool. In the meantime, wash or peel the cucumber and cut 2/3 of it into bite-sized pieces. Also wash the tomatoes and peppers and chop them up. Now put these cubes all together in a salad bowl.
  4. Now clean the fresh spices and chop the leaves. Save some marjoram for garnish. Then add a few of the herbs to the vegetable pieces in the salad bowl. Mix everything together and then add the potato slices and the gyros meat. Mix everything together again carefully.
  5. Now mix the Greek cream yoghurt, the oil and the in a separate container milk with each other and season that dressing with salt, pepper, thyme and marjoram. Grate the remaining cucumber and stir it into the yogurt dressing. Then put this dressing in the salad bowl and fold it into the ingredients.
  6. Let the Greek gyros salad stand and season it again with salt and pepper before serving. Spread the salad on plates and grind the sheep's cheese to sprinkle over the salad. Finally, the whole thing is decorated with marjoram.
