Stylish DIY phone case made of leather
DIY is the abbreviation for "Do it Yourself". You can make a DIY phone case for your cell phone from a piece of leather. The instructions for this are quite simple and leather is very robust, so it protects your smartphone particularly well in this case.

- For a leather protective cover, for example, a slightly thicker cowhide leather is suitable. Leather generally provides good protection against moisture. The soft material absorbs damage in the event of a fall. In addition, leather feels comfortable.
- Once you have all the necessary materials, you can start making the DIY phone case. You just start by making a small pattern.
Step-by-step instructions for making the leather cover
- For the pattern, draw two parts of the same size with the dimensions of your mobile phone on a piece of paper. Also take into account the thickness (depth) of the phone and add another 0.5 cm seam allowance. Also put exactly one dashed line on each of the pattern pieces, about 7 mm away from the respective edge and affecting three sides. The insertion side is negligible. It should stay open.
- Place this well-prepared template on the less beautiful side of the piece of leather and outline it with a pen. Now cut the two parts along the lines with sharp scissors.
- After you've got your sewing machine ready for use, you can start sewing. Use special leather sewing needles from a specialist store. You should set the stitch length on the machine to 4 and 5. Leather sewing thread is thicker than normal sewing thread and is also known as decorative sewing thread. Make a small sewing test beforehand. Leather seams are difficult to tear again. In any case, the puncture holes remain. If everything works well, sew three sides of the two pieces of leather together so that an opening remains on one narrow side. Place the seam so that it is approx. 7 mm margin. Don't forget to sew the seam at the end.
- In the next step, punch small holes in the 7 mm wide edge with the punch pliers. Preferably at regular, short intervals. This step requires some effort. The holes are used for sewing on the golden chain by hand with a slightly thicker thread, which you can also use twice.
- To sew on, first pull the needle through a punched hole and then through an eyelet in the chain. So sew the entire chain to the sides of the leather sheath. The insertion side remains open, of course. With this step you have finished your DIY mobile phone case.
