1. You can make a fingerprint powder yourself if you put a quarter cup of starch or talcum powder in a small, sealable container. Then you light a candle and hold an old porcelain plate to the candle flame. Do not grab the plate with your hand, but with a towel. It will become very hot from the heat. 2. Remove the carbon layer from the plate with a knife and put it in a measuring cup. So you can see immediately how much powder you have already made.
