Special solvents for treating adhesive stains are commercially available under the name adhesive remover. These are recommended by well-known adhesive manufacturers such as Uhu. Before buying, look at the instructions for use to see whether the product is suitable for use on textiles. Otherwise, try one of the following methods.

Remove secondary adhesive with acetone

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) leaves a hard adhesive stain in seconds. You can remove this with acetone. If you do not have acetone in your household, use nail polish remover containing acetone.

  1. Carry out a color test. Take a color test with acetone on an invisible part of the fabric. Some textiles are sensitive and are bleached or destroyed by acetone.

Treat the adhesive stain with soapy water

Superglue hardens immediately in the air. However, the splices are not one hundred percent waterproof. the stains can therefore be solved with soap and water.

  1. clothing put in soapy water. Put liquid soap or dish soap in a bowl of warm water. Place the affected garment in the soapy water and let it soak for a few hours. Soaking in water causes the adhesive to swell.

  2. You can remove the glue mechanically. Put any residue of the superglue that cannot be removed into the soap barrel again to soften it.

Evaporate the glue with hot air

To evaporate the glue with hot air you will need a hot glue gun. The adhesive evaporates in hot air, while the clothing material usually remains undamaged. This method is suitable for insensitive textiles such as work clothes.

  1. Use a heat gun. Use a heat gun (no glue stick) and point the muzzle at the stain.
