Build a dressing table for dogs
Many dog breeds require regular and extensive grooming. Especially those whose fur is not subject to a complete change of coat are particularly demanding. You can of course take your four-legged beauty to a dog groomer. If you want to pick up the scissors and brush yourself, a self-made dressing table for dogs is worthwhile for you.
What you need:
- Camping table
- Kennel mat made of rubber
- Rubber glue
- Carpet knife or scissors
- Metal pipe (1 m long)
- Metal pipe (0.1 m long)
- Double pipe clamp (swivel coupler)

- Metal drill
- Metal ring (stable key ring)
- Table clamp with pipe clamp
Dressing table easy and quick
- To put your dogs on a stable dressing table, the simplest solution is to use a good camping table as the basis of your self-made model.
- Choose a table that has enough space for your dog in its dimensions.
- The tables have a particularly firm stand where the pairs of legs are attached to the underside of the table top like an inverted U. They can be folded in to save space.
- You make the table safer for your dogs if you cover the surface with a non-slip material. Kennel mats, which you can also order online in running meters, are well suited for this.
- Simply place the table top on the piece of rubber mat and trace the outline. Then cut out the mat.
- Rubber mats can be glued with a suitable adhesive from the hardware store. The edges are carefully trimmed with a craft knife.

This combination is very suitable as the basis for a simple dressing table. You can fold the table to save space and stow it upright in a corner of your storage room.
Grooming table for dogs with leash holder
Not all dogs have the necessary peace and quiet to simply stand on the dressing table in such a way that you can groom your fur without any problems. In such cases, you will need a leash holder that is led across the table from one of the sides like a gallows.
- Do not drill holes in the table in order to attach the line gallows. Use clamps like those used for table lamps. You can also find these brackets in well-stocked hardware stores.
- Select the clamp so that the pipe hole has the diameter that your metal pipes cut in the building materials department of the hardware store have.
- You insert the longer metal tube into the table clamp.
- At the upper end of the metal pipe you attach the double pipe clamp at the height you want. It is also called a swivel coupler. The double clamps, which can be moved against each other, make it possible to screw two pipes at right angles to each other.
- Simply push the shorter pipe in this right-angled orientation through the part of the double pipe clamp that is still free and tighten it firmly.
- At the free end of the cross tube you can drill a hole with the metal drill. A metal ring can be attached there to which the dogs' leashes are attached.
Useful additions to the table
- Make sure that you always have the most important tools for your dressing table to hand. This works best if you hang a net or a cloth bag underneath the table.
- You can use a stroller network, where you can extend the suspensions according to your requirements.
- If you are planning to use a hair dryer or a clipper, it could also pay off for you to have your own socket at the dressing table.
- For ironing boards, there are sockets that can be fastened with table clamps and also have a cable guide.
