Fix a defect in the milk frother
Nespresso coffee machines with a milk frother are rarely defective when the milk no longer froths. There are a few ways you can restore delicious milk foam.
- Check cover. Briefly remove the milk container from the machine and check whether the lid is firmly seated on it.
- Insert container. Put the container back in place.
- Regulate milk foam. There is a slide control on the milk container to regulate the foam. Change the setting.
- Increase milk foam. Sometimes the "Minimal" setting looks like a defect because hardly any milk is frothed.
- Start the machine. Put the milk container and the coffee capsule in the machine. Start preparing the drink, for example cappuccino.
- Pour milk into the glass. Hold your finger on the start button until there is the amount of milk in the glass or cup that you want. Let go of the button - this will save this amount for the future.
- Clean the milk frother. Clean the Nespresso after each milk frothing. Place a container under the milk nozzle and press the rinsing button on the milk frother.
- Repeat cleaning. If a malfunction occurs despite regular cleaning, rinse the machine through two or three times in this way.
- Disassemble the milk frother. If these measures do not help, milk has probably stuck to the nozzle or the milk frother. Take the parts off.
- Clean individual parts. Clean them in the dishwasher or soak them in hot soapy water for an hour.
- Produce milk foam. With a little luck, the milk frother on your Nespresso machine will work properly again.

Tips for delicious milk foam with Nespresso coffee machines
So that you can enjoy delicious milk froth on your coffee, make sure that the lid of the milk frother is properly closed. The milk container must also be inserted correctly. The Nespresso has adjustable foam regulation. You can set the amount of milk from 30 to 200 milliliters.
The factory setting uses 50 milliliters for a cappuccino and 150 milliliters of milk for a latte macchiato. Setting the desired amount is easy, but it can also result in accidentally frothing only 30 milliliters. This is not a defect. Another problem is dirt, which you can remove by cleaning.
If the milk is too warm, this can also have a negative effect on the milk froth. Ideally, use 1.5% milk that has a temperature of five degrees Celsius. If all measures do not help, please contact Nespresso customer service. With safety you will soon be drinking fresh coffee with milk froth again.
