Instructions for a soap box

Soap boxes have been around for over a hundred years and they are no longer just a toy for children. The soapbox sport is also attractive for adults, especially since you can also tinker with an engine on the wooden car. You can find assembly instructions here.

  1. Take the square timbers and drill them all the way through. Make sure that the hole in the hole is large enough for the axles to fit through.
  2. Now slide the axles through the holes.
  3. Now it goes to the sub-floor. To do this, you first have to saw your board to size. Take the 3 cm thick board and saw it so that it is 100 cm long and 40 cm wide.
  4. Now take the rectangular board and place it on the back timber. Position it so that it is flush with the back edge and right in the middle. The distance to the wheels should be 5 cm.

  6. Now you should pre-drill the holes for the screws and then screw the board to the back of the square timber. You will need 4 screws for this.
  7. Now connect the front axle. Use a hanger bolt for this.
  8. Then it comes to the steering rope and its attachment. To do this, 3 eye bolts are screwed into the inside of the timber, in the middle of the wheels and underbody. You can then attach the steering cable to this.
  9. To build the seat you will need 4 boards of wood. To do this, take the board with a thickness of 2 cm and saw out 4 square pieces measuring 40 x 40 cm.
  10. Now you have to saw the boards completely to size so that the rear edge is 32 cm wide and 30 cm long.
  11. Now the seat is assembled from it, with the seat, back and side rests. Screw all boards together with the wood screws.
  12. Now all you have to do is screw the seat sufficiently to the sub-floor.

Motorize the soap box

If you want a motorized soap box, you need a suitable motor first. A small motor, such as that from a lawn mower, is suitable for this. Perhaps you still have an old engine lying around somewhere that you can cannibalize. Otherwise, these are also available cheaply at flea markets or at used markets on the Internet.

  1. Remove the engine from the lawn mower.
  2. Now you still need a gearbox that transmits the motor power to the axis of the soap box.
  3. Now attach the motor to the rear of the soap box and connect it to the rear wheel axle using the gearbox.
