Convert PNG image files to other file formats

The "Portable Network Graphics", or PNG image format for short, is much less common today than many other image formats such as JPG.

• The latter is one of the most commonly used image formats. It is therefore often desirable to be able to convert more exotic file types, such as PNG, into the JPG image format.
• There are certainly numerous different programs, including some free ones, with which this file format can be converted, among other things.
• Sometimes it is not easy to get an overview of the myriad of different programs.
• Another free one softwarewhich very many different File formats dominated is IrfanView. In addition to a large number of image formats, this software also masters various Audio- as well as video file formats. Converting PNG files to JPG format is relatively easy and quick with this program.

How to convert the image files to JPG format

1. First, of course, you need to get the program IrfanView download it and put it on your computer to install. The installation is self-explanatory, so you shouldn't have any problems with it.
2. Now start IrfanView and open the desired PNG file under "File" and "Open".
3. You can now save your image file in the format you want by clicking on "Save as" in the "File" menu.
4. Select the JPG format under "File type" and assign a file name.
5. In the window to the right of the program dialog you have the option of setting the image quality. The lower this image quality is set, the less memory the image file will require afterwards. However, this is of course at the expense of the quality of the image.
6. If you are not sure whether you should change anything in this setting, you can accept the default setting. Then click on "Save". Your picture will now be converted and saved in JPG format.
