What does cable TV cost per month?
Television via satellite or, better yet, cable television, what are the costs? Satellite television has hardly any running costs, but it is more expensive to buy. With cable TV it is the other way around: It costs a fixed fee per month, but you can save the acquisition costs with most providers. What is the better decision now?
It's not just a matter of what cable TV costs a month
- Regular cable TV without additional channels usually costs between 12 and 18 euros a month. In return, you usually receive between 40 and 80 television channels and a large selection of radio channels.
- Cable TV alone is not the only option: In a package with telephoning and surfing via the cable network, the investment can really be worthwhile. In relation to the regular telephone connection with Internet, the fast line is via the cable really worth considering. Cable television is usually included in the package.
- If you are a tenant of an apartment, that can also be decisive: cable TV is always part of the rental agreement. Since the installation of satellite systems is often not permitted in this case, you have no choice in this case as to which transmission medium you choose.
How to choose between satellite reception and cable television
- When you have a choice between satellite reception and cable television, it all depends on what is important to you. Find out about the transmitters supplied. Above all, small regional channels are only available over and over again via cable television, but not via satellite offered. If these are important to you, the decision has often already been made.
- To do this, you can receive a much larger number of stations via satellites with a suitable dish. And best of all: After purchasing, you will not incur any additional monthly costs if you refrain from any maintenance work. The initial equipment costs incl. the assembly a few hundred euros.
- In both cases it is possible to add paid programs, regardless of whether they are additional digital programs or complete packages such as Sky (formerly Premiere).
- If you rely on the satellite, your program is also more susceptible to the weather. Especially in storms and heavy snowfall, the picture can suffer massively. However, you can counteract the problem with appropriately large satellite dishes.
