Collect dandelions to make erasers

A self-made eraser made of dandelion is just the thing to really impress classmates, students or work colleagues. In order for the eraser to really work, however, you should pay close attention to the following points.

  • To make a full-size eraser yourself, you need a good handful of dandelions. When collecting, make sure to select the thickest possible plants and pull them out of the ground together with their roots.
  • The actual material that is suitable for making an eraser yourself is not that Leaves, the stem or the flowers, but the milky sap that is in the roots of the dandelion is located.
  • To isolate this sap, you should first separate the roots from the rest of the plant and then cut or chop into pieces as small as possible.
  • It is recommended to then "puree" these pieces with a mixer, as this is how you get most of the juice out of the dandelion roots.
  • Make soap from bones yourself

This is how you do the advice yourself

  1. Add some clear water to the pureed dandelion roots and stir the mixture well.
  2. This makes it possible to strain the diluted sap of the roots through a thin cotton cloth. But then it is important to separate the juice from the water again in order to make a working eraser out of it yourself.
  3. To separate the juice and water, all you have to do is add a little vinegar to the liquid. This causes the milky juice of the dandelion roots to flocculate and you can easily skim it off with a spoon.
  4. Finally, knead the skimmed mass into the desired eraser shape by kneading it with your hands and let it dry overnight.

The eraser is now ready and can be used the next day - if it is really dry. It's that easy to make a functioning and ecological eraser yourself without much effort.
