Convert WPL to M3U - first steps

  1. Start Windows Media Player and select the playlist that you want to convert to the M3U format.
  2. Now click in the menu on "File" and then on "Save current playlist as". If this menu bar is not yet displayed, right-click on one empty space in the top menu bar and then select under "View" the item "Show menu bar" the end.   2. To do this, select the "M3U playlist (* .M3U)" item in the pull-down menu that is described as "File type" and is located at the bottom of the window.
  3. As you can see, the filename has now changed from "XY.wpl" to "XY.M3U".
  4. As soon as you have now selected a storage location and click on the "Save" button, the conversion of the playlist was successful and you can find the new M3U playlist at the location you specified and now also with programs other than Windows Media Player to open.
