The hard drive of the Tevion hard drive receiver is not recognized

If the hard disk is suddenly no longer recognized by your Tevion PVR 8005 HDD, this can have various causes:

  • The most obvious possibility, which you will probably consider first, is a possible defect in the built-in hard drive of the PVR 8005 HDD.
  • But a fault in the power supply unit of the Tevion receiver can also be the cause. As a result, a secure power supply for the hard drive is no longer guaranteed, which is reflected in the error mentioned.

How to fix the PVR 8005 HDD error

  1. First open the device with a screwdriver by unscrewing the screws for the housing cover.
  2. Then look on the power supply board of the PVR 8005 HDD to see whether one or more electrolytic capacitors have bulging covers. This indicates that they are defective.
  3. If this is the case, you must replace the defective components. This often affects the component with the designation C23 on the circuit board. To do this, unsolder the defective electrolytic capacitor (s) and replace them with new components. Pay attention to the correct polarity when inserting.
  4. If you have soldered the defective components, reinstall the circuit board and carry out a test run after you have screwed the housing cover back on.

The device should normally work again now. If, contrary to expectations, this is not the case, the hard disk is probably defective, which you will then have to replace with a new hard disk.
